Daniel S. Williams -- Pastor

Dan Williams has been pastor of Second Church since August 15, 1995.  Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Dan was educated at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, where he received research honors in Biblical Studies and the Robert Park Senior Bible award.  Dan then received a Masters of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, Massachusetts, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Virginia.

Prior to coming to Second, Dan served two Presbyterian churches in central Pennsylvania: McVeytown (1981-1988), and First, Hollidaysburg (1988-1995). In addition, he served as Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of Huntingdon from 1987-1995.

Dan married Sharon (Hudson) Williams on June 20, 1980.  Sharon is the Assistant Principal of Tye River Elementary School in Arrington, Nelson County, Virginia.  They have two sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy and his wife, Jesssica,  and Jonathan, a freshman at the University of Mary Washington.  The Williams' live with their cocker spaniels, Sebastian and Sidney, in Stuarts Draft.

Dan has four brothers, Paul (Cleveland, OH), David (Charleston, WV area), Dick (Boston, MA), and John (Butler, PA).  Dan's parents, Andy and Doris, still live in the home they bought when Dan was two, near Mt. Jackson, PA, fifty miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Dan enjoys ice hockey, baseball, movies, reading (Clancy and Grisham novels), and traveling.  Dan maintains this web site for the church.

Kay L. Mader -- Christian Education Consultant

Kay was born in Staunton, where she has lived all of her life.  She is the daughter of Frances Robinson and the late Cecil Robinson.  She has one older brother, Sonny.

Kay graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in June 1967 and immediately started work at Thomas Hogshead Drug Store as the assistant bookkeeper.  From there, she went to work at the City Treasurer's Office for six years until she transferred to the Staunton City School Board in 1972, working as the secretary of the Special Education Department at Thomas Dixon Elementary School.  Kay "retired" from this phase of her work in April 1985, when she gave birth to her son, Jason.

Kay has been employed as the Christian Education Consultant at Second Church since January 1, 1996.  Her responsibilities include oversight (with the Christian Education Committee of the Session) of the Sunday School program and staff support for other educational and fellowship programs, such as the AGAPE Fellowship.  She can usually be found in her office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., and again on Sunday mornings.  (Kay does not work from about mid June until mid August.)

Kay is married to James Mader, who works with the Augusta County Sheriff's Office, and has one son, Jason.  Kay enjoys reading, sports, crafts, and spending time at the beach.  (However, she does not like seafood!).
