PW awards Life Membership

Darlene Mason, Moderator of Presbyterian Women of Second Presbyterian Church, presented a Life Membership to Patsy Easley during worship on Sunday, September 7.  Life memberships are given in recognition of faithful service in some area of the church’s work.  [Picture: Brannock and Patsy Easley during the Life Membership presentation.]

Darlene introduced Patsy with this overview of her service through Second Church:

  • Patsy was born in 1928 in Clarksville, VA, and was raised as a Methodist.

  • She participated in the Drum and Bugle Corp in High School

  • Her home was the center of many dance parties.

  • Patsy entered many Tap Dancing competitions and, with Brannock, she entered jitterbug competitions.

  • Patsy and Brannock were married when Patsy was 18; they have four children: Johnny, Beverley, Andy and Mary, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

  • Brannock and Patsy lived with his parents while he went to Pharmacy School in Richmond.

  • After school they moved to Waynesboro, where Patsy became a charter member of Westminister Presbyterian Church.

  • The Easley's moved to Staunton in 1965 and joined Second Presbyterian.

  • Patsy has been a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, sings in the choir, has taught Bible Study in Morning Circle and Circle 4.

  • She is active in Aglow, and has traveled to International Conventions in Phoenix, New Orleans, Nashville, and Seattle.

  • Patsy will fly anywhere but will not step her foot on a ship.

  • She boasts a green thumb.

  • Patsy never says an unkind work and her love of God and humanity is evident in all she does and says. She is a woman after Gods heart.

Patsy was presented with the Presbyterian Women's Life Membership pin, pictured to the right.  The caring, supportive hands represent women who seek to build an inclusive community of Presbyterian Women. The leaf represents growth of our personal and corporate response to Jesus Christ as we nurture our faith. The dove indicates our work for peace in our own lives and throughout the world, shown in the globe. At the center of the design is the cross, by which our sins are forgiven and we are freed to live in Christ, who is the center of our lives. The overall design is of a butterfly, the symbol of newness in Christ.

A PW Life Membership is made with a gift paid through Presbytery's PW.  This contribution supports Presbyterian Women’s Leadership Development grants, which are used for Presbyterian Women leadership training costs, support of leadership development events for women, and training leaders for mission interpretation.
