2008 BAJA MISSION TRIP |
Highland-Augusta
Mission Community (HAMC) of Shenandoah Presbytery will once again
sponsor a mission trip to Baja California, Mexico, during the summer of
2008. The dates for next year’s trip are July 20-26, 2008.
This will be the ninth consecutive year that HAMC congregations have done short-term mission work in the Vicente Guerrero area, located 200 miles south of San Diego, CA. In the past the emphasis has been on building one- to four-room houses for Oaxacan Indians, but other projects might include building schoolhouses, churches, or doing other short-term mission projects either at the mission base, at other mission sites, or in the villages. We have spaces for 60 people, and while this trip is sponsored by HAMC, any member of Shenandoah Presbytery may participate. Because registration is on a ‘first-come, first served’ basis, we want to make sure every HAMC congregation is aware of this mission opportunity. Sign-ups for this trip opened on October 15. To sign up, complete and submit the three forms which can be downloaded from the Highland-Augusta Mission Community page on the Shenandoah Presbytery web site. You will not be considered registered unless you have fully completed all three forms! [Note: if you have been on this trip previously, you do not have to fill out the Outreach Information Form again.] These forms are also available from the pastor. Application forms can be submitted either by email, regular mail, fax, or in person, to: Ms. Rhonda Richey / 149 Mary's Run Road / Churchville, VA 24421 / Fax: (540)886-0148 – Attention Rhonda / email: richietax@msn.com.The last day to sign up is January 15, 2008, although the trip may be full prior to that date. A waiting list will be maintained based on the date complete applications are received on or after October 15. If slots become available, wait-listed applicants will be notified. Questions can be directed to Mac Sterrett at macsterrett@comcast.net or Dan Williams at dsw-office@sec-stn.org.
